Synergism through Collaboration: The History of Open Textbook Adoption at Marshall University

Most institutions coordinate their plans to increase the adoption of Open Educational Resources on their campuses. At Marshall University, OER initiatives did not start out this way. Stakeholders addressed the need for open textbooks simultaneously, but separately. As these efforts matured, collaboration grew and the library became a catalyst for open textbook adoption. However, support from all stakeholders is required for continued success. In this session, we will review the short, two-year history of open textbook adoption at Marshall University. Participants are encouraged to review the “OER at Marshall” timeline. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A.

Cyber threat actors of today are sophisticated – but they also don’t have to be. The reality is most cyber-attacks are preventable.  Anyone in the organization can be a be a potential target of a cyber-attack -and anyone can also be key to preventing cyber-attacks.  This presentation will take a non-technical look at the methodology of a cyber-attack , a high-level understanding of some of the top cyber threats targeting the education sector as well as state and local governments, some practical cyber hygiene practices to be considered across the organization, and how best to respond when faced with an ongoing cyber-attack.
